When will idiots realize that Communism does not work. Look at history, no country that has tried communism made it work. If you do not learn from history then you are going to repeat it. Look at North Korea and South Korea. Two counties with the same people and the same resources and one is poor and communist and one is rich and capitalist

Considering that the American labor day arose in part as a rejection of the day commemorated by the labor movement in Europe and North America, the roots of which lie in the McCormick Strike and Haymarket mess in 1886, I don’t think you know that the cartoon is no joke. Labor Day around the world, outside of the United States, off these shores and away from our domestic bliss, is May 1. Hope you had a profitable May Day.

Socialism – from the people who brought you the weekend and the 8 hour workday.

Capitalism – greed unbound promoted by people who would stomp on little kittens if ticket sales were solid and the margins were good enough.

Cheap, North Korea is a totalatarian state based on a personality cult. When “Socialist Russia” fell, Stalin was basically a dictator. I don’t think you know what socialism is.

How can workers owning the means of production be a bad thing?

    Thats socialsm.

  9. Carolina Says:

what about China? my country is doing quite well and is a communist state

  10. LAS Says:

“How can the workers owning the means of production be a bad thing?”

Instead of asking this rhetorically as if the answer was self-evident, perhaps you can think of an example where collective ownership actually worked.

  11. mike Says:

No, workers owning the means of production is a great thing. Think about it, you have money, you get a choice (freedom) of what to do with it, and start a business. Now people choose (freedom) who to work for, then decide they’re in control. Really, what’s the problem with someone else controlling your stuff? Socialism’s a great idea, I can decide what I’m going to do at work instead of my boss. I never did like actually getting that much done.

  12. Did anyone here pay attention in economics? Says:

“what about China? my country is doing quite well and is a communist state”
-First of all China maybe communist goverment, but their economy isn’t. China is in transition from communism in their economy, which means that they are now a mixed economy moving towards a free market= Hence, why your country, Carolina, is doing ” quite well”.
-Second, to mike who thinks that socialism will bring (freedom). Socialism is only a theory, which is based on equality. Socialist argue that real equality is achieved when weath in a country is distributed equally, This theory is what communistic goverments are based on. The American principal means that everyone has equal rights and oppertunities, not complete freedom, which by definition is chaos.
    -Thirdly,
    To Gimlet,
A free market is motivated by a consumer’s individual incentive, which means that yes, Gimlet, if someone in a free market wanted tickets for a fair price and did not like kittens they would be theorectically allowed to “stomp on them”, but because we are in America animal rights activists would probably sue the ticket buyer afterwards. Furthermore, the 8 hour workday was introduced in America.
